Tiling Services in Detail

Everything you need to know about our professional tiling services

Ceramic Wall Tiling Installation

Professional wall tiling transforms bathrooms and kitchens, providing a durable, waterproof surface that's easy to clean and looks fantastic for years. We tile walls in brick bond, herringbone, stacked, and bespoke patterns using ceramic, porcelain, or stone tiles. Surface preparation is critical — we prime walls, apply the correct adhesive for the tile type, and use a levelling system to ensure every tile sits perfectly flat. Precision cutting around pipework, sockets, and fixtures is done with wet saws for clean, chip-free edges.

  • Brick bond, herringbone, and stacked patterns
  • Wet-saw precision cutting around fixtures
  • Tile levelling system for a perfectly flat finish

Floor Tiling Installation

Floor tiles need to withstand foot traffic, furniture weight, and occasional impacts — the installation has to be right. We assess the sub-floor condition, check for any movement, and apply a levelling compound or anti-fracture matting as needed before laying tiles. For timber sub-floors, we use flexible adhesive and may overlay with a cement backer board to prevent tile cracking from wood movement. We work with porcelain, ceramic, and natural stone floor tiles, and can install over underfloor heating systems with the correct flexible adhesive and grout.

  • Porcelain and ceramic floor tiling
  • Anti-fracture matting on timber floors
  • Underfloor heating compatible installation
  • Sub-floor assessment and levelling

Tile Repair & Cracked Tile Replacement

A cracked or loose tile doesn't always mean retiling the whole wall or floor. We can often replace individual damaged tiles by carefully removing the old tile and adhesive, preparing the substrate underneath, and fitting a replacement that matches as closely as possible. If the original tiles are no longer available, we can advise on complementary alternatives or creative solutions like a decorative border or feature section. We also fix loose tiles that are still intact by removing, cleaning, and re-bedding them in fresh adhesive.

  • Individual tile replacement without full retile
  • Loose tile re-bedding
  • Tile matching service for discontinued ranges
  • Creative solutions when tiles cannot be matched

Grout Removal, Refresh & Recolouring

Old, stained, or mouldy grout makes even good tiles look tired. We remove old grout using manual and power tools, clean the joints thoroughly, and apply fresh grout in your choice of colour. For wet areas like showers, we recommend and can apply epoxy grout which is water-resistant and won't stain or harbour mould like traditional cement grout. A grout colour change can completely transform the look of a tiled room — switching from white to grey or black grout gives a more contemporary, defined look without the cost of retiling.

  • Full grout removal and replacement
  • Epoxy grout for wet areas
  • Grout colour change — transform without retiling
  • Mould-resistant grout options

Complete Bathroom Tiling

Bathroom tiling is the most demanding type of tiling work because it involves wet areas that must be completely waterproof. We apply a tanking system to shower enclosures and wet zones before tiling — a liquid-applied waterproof membrane that prevents any water that gets through the grout from reaching the wall structure. We plan the tile layout to minimise cuts and ensure the pattern flows naturally around the room, including niches and shelves built into the tiling for shampoo and soap storage. Edge trims are mitred for a clean, professional finish.

  • Waterproof tanking for wet areas
  • Shower niche and shelf tiling
  • Layout planning for minimal cuts
  • Mitred edge trims for professional finish

Kitchen Splashback Tiling

A tiled kitchen splashback protects your walls from cooking splashes while adding a design feature to the room. We install ceramic, metro, and glass tile splashbacks in full-height and upstand configurations. Tiles behind the hob need to withstand heat and steam — we use heat-resistant adhesive and grout in this area. We also tile around sockets and switches with precision cuts and, where possible, adjust socket positions slightly to align with the tile grid for a neater finish.

  • Ceramic, metro, and glass splashbacks
  • Heat-resistant installation behind hobs
  • Precision cutting around sockets
  • Full-height and upstand configurations

Pattern & Mosaic Tile Work

Patterned and mosaic tiles add character and a bespoke feel to any room, but they require a higher level of skill to install correctly. We lay herringbone, chevron, Versailles, and basketweave patterns with careful attention to alignment and symmetry, and we're experienced in the delicate work of fitting mosaic sheets without visible seams between sheets. For feature walls and decorative borders, we'll help you choose complementary colours and patterns that work with the rest of the room rather than fighting against it.

  • Herringbone, chevron, and basketweave layouts
  • Mosaic tile fitting without visible seams
  • Feature wall and decorative border design
  • Colour and pattern consultation

Waterproofing & Tanking for Wet Areas

Before a single tile goes up in a shower or wet room, the substrate must be fully waterproofed. We apply liquid tanking membranes to walls and floors in wet areas, with reinforcing tape at all joints and corners to create a completely watertight seal. This is a Building Regulations requirement for wet rooms and walk-in showers, and we strongly recommend it for all shower enclosures — even though it's technically optional for shower trays, the extra protection is well worth the modest additional cost.

  • Liquid-applied tanking membrane
  • Joint and corner reinforcement tape
  • Building Regulations compliant wet room prep
  • Water-tightness testing before tiling

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our tiling services

We recommend 24 hours before light foot traffic and 48–72 hours before heavy use or furniture placement. Your tiler will advise based on the specific adhesive used.

Sometimes yes, but we prefer to remove old tiles first. Tiling over tiles adds weight and thickness. We'll assess and advise on the best approach during the survey.

We'll bring a grout colour chart and help you choose. As a general rule: matching grout creates a seamless look, contrasting grout highlights the tile pattern. We'll show you examples.

Porcelain is denser, more water-resistant, and more durable — ideal for floors and wet areas. Ceramic is lighter and easier to cut — great for walls. We'll help you choose based on where it's going.

Yes. We recommend ordering 10% extra for cuts, breakages, and future repairs. We'll calculate the exact quantity you need.
